We’re changing our name to Expree Credit Union!

Please read the letter below from KECU President John Graham to all of our members – and then feel free to check out the Q&A section below that to answer any concerns you may have about the upcoming change.

We want to answer any questions or concerns you may have concerning the announcement of our name change. Please see the questions and answers below, and if you have any further questions feel free to reach out to us here.

When will the name change take effect?
We will officially change our name on September 9.

Is the name change a result of a merger or acquisition?
No. The name change is not the result of a merger or acquisition of any kind.

Why are you changing the name?
After extensive research, we learned that our current name was cause for confusion over membership eligibility. Based on these findings and a comprehensive name and brand evaluation process, your Board of Directors made the decision to change the credit union’s name.

Will the ownership of the credit union remain the same?
Yes. The credit union will remain 100% owned by you, the members.

Is my money still safe?
Yes. Your deposits are and will still be federally insured up to $250,000.

Will the credit union still serve Frankfort?
Absolutely. We are fully committed to our roots and serving the Frankfort community.

Will the employees at the credit union change?
The employees that you’ve grown accustomed to serving you will be here ready to provide the same personalized service that you expect.

Who will be eligible to join the credit union?
Our field of membership remains the same, serving public sector employees such as State, County, local, and Federal Government employees, military personnel and public-school employees and retirees; people who live, work or worship in the following counties: Franklin, Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Garrard, Harrison, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Oldham, Powell, Scott, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble and Woodford. Also, those who are a student or employee at the following colleges: Kentucky State University, Alice Lloyd College, Asbury University, Bellarmine University, Berea College, Brescia University, Campbellsville University, Centre College, University of the Cumberlands, Georgetown College, Kentucky Christian University, Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), Kentucky Wesleyan College, Lindsey Wilson College, Midway University, University of Pikeville, Spalding University, Thomas More College, Transylvania University, Union College; or a family member of anyone in the groups listed here.

Will my account numbers change?
No, your account number(s) and suffixes will remain the same.

Will the routing number change?
No, our routing number will remain the same. The routing number will remain 283978467. When updating tax documents, direct deposit forms, or automated payment forms, you will not need to make any changes.

Will my debit card still work?
Yes, your debit card and PIN will continue to work as they always have. You will be automatically issued a new debit card with the new name and logo upon expiration of your current card.

Will my credit card still work?
Yes, your credit card will still work as it always has. Upon your card’s expiration date, you will be automatically issued a new credit card with the new name and logo. Your card number, credit limit and expiration date will not change.

Will I still be able to use my checks?
Yes, your checks will still work. You can continue using your existing checks until they run out. When it’s time for you to re-order, new checks with the new name and logo of the credit union will be issued.

How will fees, loan rates and deposit rates be impacted by the name change?
Rates and fees will not be affected by the name change. We will continue to monitor our rates and fees as we always have to ensure high value and return to our members. Rates and fees do fluctuate, as they adjust in response to market conditions.

If I have automatic payments taken from my account or receive direct deposit, will I need to do anything?
No, everything will stay the same. Our routing number will not change and your account number will remain the same. Therefore, it is not necessary to take any steps to update automatic payments or direct deposit.

Will Internet Banking and the mobile app still work?
Yes. Internet banking and the mobile app will still work. The URL for internet banking will not change. Your username and password to login will not change.

Will I need to redownload the app?
No. The new app will be pushed out to replace your old app automatically, with no need to redownload it.

Will the credit union phone numbers, website and email addresses change?
All phone numbers will remain the same. We will announce our new website address and email addresses with the reveal of our new name in August. The old website and email addresses will automatically redirect to the new addresses until September. We will introduce an additional 800 number with the new name.

Will branch days of operation and hours change?
The branches will continue to be open and available to you the same days and times you expect and deserve.

Lobby hours for the main branch located at 100 Moore Drive will continue to be Monday thru Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The drive-thru will operate Monday thru Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Hours for Boone Center branch located at 100 Minuteman Parkway, Building 124 B, Suite 2, will continue to operate Monday thru Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Will there be any change in my statement cycle or in the way the statements are presented?
There will not be any changes to the statement cycle or format. Watch your mail for our new statement stationary with the new name and logo beginning in October.

How will current members benefit from this name change?
With a new and more distinctive name and brand that answers the community’s questions regarding membership eligibility (i.e. Can I be a member if I do not work for state government?), we will be able to provide greater value to our membership. Simply, more credit union growth means more products, services, and better rates on savings and loans for our members.

What will change with the new name?
Only the name will change. There will be no impact to your existing relationship with us, or any changes to your day-to-day banking. Beginning September, you will see changes to our exterior signage, website, brochures, stationery, etc. as we roll them out.

How did you select the new name?
We spent many months working with a team of Board Members, Management and Staff under the guidance of a national experienced and respected branding firm.
