Kentucky Employees Credit Union Community Giving
Community Support Guidelines
At Kentucky Employees Credit Union, helping create a better community in which our members live is at the core of what we do. Helping nonprofits and community groups is a part of our culture. The credit union receives numerous requests for donations and it’s our goal to ensure KECU’s sponsorships and giving meet guidelines that responsibly serve and support our members.
Helping nonprofits, educational and community groups is party of the People Helping People philosophy we strive to embrace. We believe these groups have a tremendous impact on the communities we serve and it’s both our responsibility and pleasure to support them.
Qualifying organizations are 501(c)(3), accredited educational institutions or recognized community support groups. We cannot support activities that are strictly religious or political in nature. While we wish we could support all the worthy organizations that request donations, we believe our dollars have a greater impact focused on these key social issues affecting our communities.
- Promoting local arts
- Promoting area education
- Promoting physical health and wellness
- Promoting the credit union movement and credit union advocacy
- Promoting military and veterans
- Promoting community support groups
- Promoting senior wellness and longevity
If your organization does not support at least one of these core focus areas, we will not be able to grant your donation request.
We also support community and professional activities that help us build stronger relationships with our members and the communities we serve. Unlike our charitable contributions, corporate sponsorships are not required to support one of the core focus areas. However, they will receive greater consideration if they do so. To be considered for corporate sponsorship, your event or activity should:
- Take place in or benefit the community
- Not support political organizations or a particular individual
In some instances, the credit union is able to provide a give-away item in lieu of a cash donation. These donations are typically granted for use as a door prize, silent auction item or participant gift.
Submitting a Request
All requests must be made via the electronic form below and must state how the organization qualifies. A non-charitable organization may request a donation if the primary purpose is charitable (i.e. shelter, clothing, medical care for homeless) or educational (i.e. scholarships, youth activities, etc.). Sports may be considered if the team is organized and administered by an accredited organization. Fundraising walks/runs, golf tournaments, and other contests may qualify depending on the purpose. Purpose of funds must be stated and must support the mission of the requesting organization, as well as the impact areas stated above.
We will notify you as soon as possible; however, please allow up to 30 days for notification.
